Stats / Data
Officially designated as the United States Rifle, Caliber .30-06, Model 1903 and referred by the troops as the “03” and “Springfield”, the M1903 Springfield has seen frontline service in nearly twenty wars in a period of 70 years.
Following the Spanish-American War, the US Army sought to replace the Springfield Model 1892-99 Krag–Jørgensen after the Spanish Army inflicted massive casualties on US forces with the German-designed Spanish Mauser Model 1893. After a number of evaluations were completed in Springfield Armory, the Mauser was deemed a superior design and the development of the Springfield Model 1903 began.
Two prototypes were made throughout the development, the US Rifle Model 1900 .30 Prototype had designs incorporating both the Krag–Jørgensen and Spanish Mauser Model 1893 and the US Rifle Model 1901 .30 Prototype which incorporated features from the Mauser Gewehr 98 at a length of 30”. The final design had the rifle shortened down to a length of 24” to create a long gun with the ability to act as a carbine for cavalry troops with the addition of the turn-bolt design. Due to the design similarities of the Gewehr 98, the US Government was taken to court by Mauser Werke and paid $250,000 USD ($7.2M USD as of 2020) in royalties.
During World War I, the M1903 Springfield saw service with the American Expeditionary Force alongside the M1917 American Enfield due to improperly forged receivers. This caused serious injury to the user and modifications to remedy the problem were made at Serial No. 800,000 at Springfield Armory and Serial No. 285,507 at Rock Island Arsenal resulting in the infamous “Low-Number” M1903 Springfield. Its use as a sniper rifle used the M1913 Warner & Swasey Telescopic Musket Sight by the US Army and the Winchester A5 Telescope by the USMC.
In World War II, the shortage of the M1 Garand would allow the M1903 Springfield to see frontline service by the US Army and US Marine Corps on both Theatres of war. In 1941, 1942, and 1943 it was used as a standard infantry rifle until it was gradually replaced by the M1 Garand. It was also used as a grenadier’s rifle for use with the M1 Grenade Launcher due to its ability to fire high pressure cartridges. The sniper variants of the Springfield rifle would include the M1903A1, M1903A3, and M1903A4. The M1903A3 variant had the original M1905 leaf sight replaced with a rear aperture peep sight, but the M1903A4 variant had the rear aperture peep sight and front sight removed. The US Army and USMC had different variants and scopes for use as a sniper rifle. The Army utilized the A4 using the Weaver Model 330 2.4x, while the USMC retained the A1 and used the Unertl 8x.
The M1903 Springfield would see more frontline service until the 1970s. As of today, it remains a popular rifle amongst civilians, drill teams, hunters, and historical collector’s piece.
An Elegant and Gentle aura emits from Springfield as always. Her design follows a color palette of blue, red and white (a nod to the American Flag's Primary Colors).
She has long brown orange hair, with sidelocks done into hair rings and the remainder done into separate twin tails tied with blue, red and white stripped ribbons. She has green eyes and wears a blue blazer, patterned to resemble a Military Academy Cadet's Parade Uniform but worn akin to the Revolutionary War Uniform. An embroidered pattern similar to those found in a US Army Officer "Special Evening Dress" could be seen on both ends of the blazer's sleeves. The Blazer is held in place by a gold chain (tied on the second pair of buttons just above the chest, a white sash slung over the blazer (of which also holds a Turkish Ottoman M1903 Bayonet), a long red ribbon tied at the back and partnered with a long skirt. Underneath, she wears a white long sleeved shirt with a small red ribbon tied around the collar, a pair of white gloves, white trousers and a pair of tall brown laced boots. The Rifle she carries is the M1903A1 "C-Stock" variant.
Her café skin is exclusively shown only when entering the base café, or in costume/digimind story involvements where Springfield is in the Café.
Unlike her default skin, it departs from the blue-red-white color palette and shows a more casual white and brown palette depicting a typical barista. Her hair is done into a more casual ponytail tied with a big black and white striped ribbon, but still keeping her signature side locks and hair rings. She wears a similar white long sleeved shirt, the red ribbon around the collar is replaced with a blue sailor uniform ribbon,a brown apron with two large pockets is placed on top. While her white trousers are replaced with a pair of blue trousers.
Exclusive only during the VA-11 HALL-A collaboration event, it features a similar design to the Café skin but some clothes replaced, showing a more bartender look than previously.
Springfield's hair is now affixed in a low ponytail with her signature side locks and hair rings removed, making her hair flow down her back reaching her thighs. Her hair is secured with a chrome-blue ribbon. The white long sleeved shirt is retained but the blue sailor uniform ribbon has been replaced by a chrome blue necktie and the brown apron has been swapped for a black vest. Additionally her trousers are swapped for a blue-black skirt tied with a ribbon in the front.
Her first player obtainable skin, initially released during the 2016 (2018 EN) Halloween Carnival Limited Time Gacha. She is featured as a "Classical Witch". Worn during said Halloween party in the base.

Her shirt is damped with sweat, making it see-through and a pair of sunglasses is hanged on the open shirt. Below, a thin see-through towel is tied around her waist as cover but failing to conceal her legs from the bright sun. Underneath is a white two piece bikini with blue straps and blue lining on the side. For her feet, a pair of white sandals decorated with white lilies. She carries a white beach umbrella and a blue cooler with her left arm and her rifle is slung onto her right shoulder. - With her housewife character setting and kind personality, community nickname for Springfield is "Raifu"（太太）.
- M1903 Springfield was to have been issued with Pedersen Device for the planned Spring 1919 Offensive of WWI. This attachment which replaced the normal bolt of the rifle was capable of converting it to fire a pistol caliber (.30-18 or 7.62x20 Longue) round semi-automatically to increase the soldier's overall suppressive firepower while crossing no-man's land and into the enemy trench line. The magazine itself is placed diagonally to the right of receiver and holds 40 rounds of ammo. Unfortunately, the war ended before being delivered to American Armies in Europe, and the devices were mothballed until the order was given for their destruction. Very few survive today.
- The M1903 Springfield 'Air Service' was introduced in response from the US Army Air Service request for a backup weapon that could be used in case of machine gun failure in the midst of an aerial engagement. Being a cut-down M1903 equipped with a 25-round magazine and modified sights, Historians have often erroneously referred to the rifle as a "survival" rifle, as recent archival digging has revealed its true purpose as an actual backup weapon in aerial combat, though the pilots and or their rear-gunners would have preferred to see something along the lines of a semi-auto sporting rifle from the time such as a Remington Model 8.
- Originally, Springfield was the first payment award on CN/TW/KR server. With the First Payment award change on July 2018 Springfield is no longer the reward T-doll and cannot be obtained this way again.
