Weapon Background[edit]

6P62 (6П62) is the GRAU designation of a Russian hand-held fully automatic anti-materiel rifle chambered for the 12.7×108mm round. At 100 meters it can penetrate up to 20 mm of RHA steel.

Only one similar weapon was ever constructed, the KPB-12.7 (КПБ-12,7). It was intended as a hand-held machine gun. Some sources state the weapon was uncontrollable when shoulder fired in fully automatic mode. The recoil-reducing system allowed this weapon to be fired from the shoulder, but it still had an insufficient reliability and an insufficient accuracy in single shots, and accurate bursts were also all but impossible from such large caliber but lightweight weapon with a limited magazine capacity.[1]

Trivia

  • 6P62 is responsible for one of the longest-running memes in Girls Frontline; since her art is done by the head manager of Mica Team, Yu Zhong, she is often portrayed as Zhong's adoptive T-Doll daughter. The meme has become so prevalent that one of later furniture sets has her locked inside the Producer's office for her protection.
  • While classified by the game as an assault rifle, it's more accurate to say that 6P62 is, in reality, an Anti-Material rifle. The weapon in reality has extremely harsh recoil, even with internal recoil-reduction mechanisms, and has to be deployed with a bipod to be used effectively.
    • 6P62 gets around the limitations of her associated weapon in rather novel fashion - in addition to being considerably stronger than a human due to being an Android, she has a huge device on her back that acts as a stabilizer mechanism. She also wears an armored exoskeleton to increase her ability to handle the recoil.
      • According to 6P62, her stabilizer backpack weighs approximately 50 kilograms.
  • 6P62 is the only Assault Rifle in Girls Frontline that is capable of using Armor-Piercing ammunition, as she fires the full-sized 12.7x108mm Machine Gun cartridge. This heavy round is also used by Antimaterial rifles like the Russian KSVK.
    • Her weapon differs from the AR ASh-12.7 in this regard; ASh-12.7's weapon is smaller, lighter, and was designed for Russian counter-terrorist units and uses a modified, necked cartridge, as opposed to the full-sized round the 6P62 uses.
